Icelandic® Announces Expansion Plans for Headquarters in Newport News, Virginia
NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia. (July 29, 2010) -- Icelandic® USA, Inc., one of the country’s premier seafood companies, is proud to announce the approval of plans to expand their Newport News, Virginia headquarters. The 88,000 square foot, sub-zero facility will store raw materials and finished goods, as well as inventory that is ready to be shipped to customers. Expansion plans were approved before a Newport News city hearing just weeks ago, adding momentum to the project which has been in the planning stages for approximately one year. Icelandic® is currently in the permitting phase and intends to occupy the new facility by May 1, 2011.

To support its industry leading selection of premium seafood products, a new warehouse facility or Mixing Center has recently been built by Icelandic® USA, Inc. The Mixing Center is a total of 81,000 square feet and can accommodate 13,500 new pallet positions. Icelandic® currently has two processing plants, one in Newport News, VA and the other located in Cambridge, MD, both of which have a capacity of 3,500 pallet positions. The new Mixing Center will provide a centralized distribution center that will increase Icelandic’s storage capacity by almost 100%.
